Origanum microphyllum, also known as Matzourana, is a type of perennial herbaceous plant that endemic to Crete. It can be found thriving on rocky slopes and scrublands in the White Mountains and Dikti mountain range, at altitudes of up to 2000 meters. The Organic Cretan Tea Matzourana KERA is grown organically, hand-harvested, and cultivated in its natural environment near to the majestic Samaria Gorge, without any use of chemicals or processing methods that may compromise its medicinal and therapeutic properties.
It has a unique strong aroma and a spicy flavor and it is frequently used in cooking, as well as in the preparation of therapeutic herbal teas, often in combination with Cretan malotira.
